BIO-X is an environmentally sustainable solution for odor removal in wastewater treatment plants, sewage pumping stations and other applications. Gaseous pollutants such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), amines and mercaptans are removed from the air by using selected microorganisms. BIO-X achieves high degree of removal of odorous gases with zero consumable costs. Act4energy carried out all R&D activities including proof of concept (TRL3), lab-scale process testing (TRL4), pilot-scale process testing (TRL5) and prototype operation (TRL7). Continuous research has led to the optimization of pollutant removal mechanisms as well as system design. Resulting in the development of an economically viable and reliable system.

This range is characterized by innovation, simplicity of operation, very low reagent consumption and very low waste production. It is based on the biological removal of gaseous pollutants from the air, through suitable microorganisms that grow in the form of biofilm in the packing material. The efficiency in the removal of pollutants can reach 99.5%.
